Healthcare Foundation of La Porte (HFL) is a nonprofit, independent, private foundation dedicated to empowering La Porte County residents to live healthy and well. Our vision is to become one of Indiana’s top 10 healthiest communities by 2030. HFL was initially funded in March 2016 from the proceeds of the sale of IU Health La Porte Hospital.

HFL promotes health and wellness by focusing on three areas:

Strategic and Thought Leadership

Convening partners and providing leadership to solve our toughest health challenges locally.

Grantmaking and Scholarships

Providing grants to improve health, wellness, and quality of life in La Porte County and scholarships to support students in health and wellness careers.

Capacity Building & Continuous Learning

Strengthening and growing the capacity of La Porte County nonprofit organizations, including their knowledge, infrastructure, management, and governance.

Providing up-to-date population health and socioeconomic data.

Offering a state-of-the-art Conference & Learning Center to provide meeting and conference space for nonprofit, governmental, and educational entities in La Porte County.

Hosting health and wellness conferences and learning opportunities for the La Porte County community.
